COUNTRY HOUSE N.C | ARCHITECTURAL DESIGN DEVELOPMENT PHASE
Diseño arquitectónico a nivel de anteproyecto para una casa campestre localizada en la parcelación Hacienda California, en Piedecuesta, Santander.
DESDE EL BOCETO A LA FUNCIONALIDAD.
La casa campestre fue concebida a partir de una lectura reflexiva de las necesidades de los usuarios, quienes buscaban una vivienda con altos estándares de calidad, confort y funcionalidad, pero de manera compacta y sin extravagancias estéticas.
En ese sentido, se organizó la zona social vinculada al comedor y a una amplia cocina abierta, dos habitaciones muy amplias y cómodas (una en planta baja y otra en planta alta), un estudio de pintura, depósitos y espacios pensados para apreciar la contundencia y belleza sobrecogedora del paisaje circundante.
La casa surgió desde los bocetos hasta los planos de anteproyecto como respuesta a esas necesidades y al sitio: la geometría se articuló en el lugar más plano del lote, adaptándose sutilmente en un solo nivel en planta baja. La fachada norte, abierta al máximo, prioriza las principales visuales (desde allí se aprecia la meseta de Bucaramanga a lo lejos), mientras que la fachada sur, sólida, contundente y muy cerrada, garantiza la privacidad necesaria para que desde la vía aledaña no se pierda intimidad.
Los materiales elegidos son neutros y naturales: estuco, concreto, madera. Su neutralidad busca que sean el interior y los objetos propios de la vida residencial (cuadros, adornos, muebles) los que se resalten cromáticamente con el tiempo.
La propuesta estructural se basa en pórticos de concreto reforzado, con columnas ubicadas estratégicamente para no afectar la funcionalidad de los espacios. Estas dan más carácter vertical a algunos recintos y, en su remate, soportan una cubierta curva que evoca la suavidad que debería tener siempre la existencia.
WRIGHT A LO LEJOS
Las formas de la arquitectura propuesta para este encargo están sutilmente inspiradas en el legado de Frank Lloyd Wright, sobre todo en el uso de escalonamientos en planta y alzado, y en la fuerza y contundencia de la línea horizontal. Esto le da a la casa una presencia escultórica a través del juego de llenos, vacíos, sombras, lo opaco y lo traslúcido, en busca del equilibrio que toda composición debe intentar poseer.
Las terrazas funcionan como remates volumétricos para la zona social y las habitaciones, consolidando un espacio vital que siempre se relaciona con el exterior, sin perder la calidez y el confort de los espacios internos, claramente diseñados para ser altamente funcionales.

Architectural Design at Preliminary Project Level for a Country House Located in Hacienda California Subdivision, Piedecuesta, Santander.
FROM SKETCH TO FUNCTIONALITY.
The country house was conceived from a thoughtful reading of the users’ needs. They were seeking a home with high standards of quality, comfort, and functionality, yet compact and free of aesthetic extravagance.
Accordingly, the layout includes:
The social area linked to the dining room and a spacious open kitchen,
Two very generous and comfortable bedrooms (one on the ground floor and one on the upper floor),
A painting studio,
Storage spaces,
And areas designed to appreciate the powerful and overwhelming beauty of the surrounding landscape.
The house emerged from the initial sketches to the preliminary drawings as a direct response to those needs and to the site itself: the geometry was arranged on the flattest part of the lot, subtly adapting to it in a single-level ground floor.
The north façade, opened to the fullest, prioritizes the main views (from there one can see the Bucaramanga plateau in the distance), while the south façade—solid, strong, and very closed—provides the necessary privacy so that intimacy is not compromised from the adjacent road.
The chosen materials are neutral and natural: stucco, concrete, wood. Their neutrality is intended so that the interior and the personal objects of residential life (paintings, decorations, furniture) become the elements that stand out chromatically over time.
The structural proposal is based on reinforced concrete portals, with columns strategically placed so as not to interfere with the functionality of the spaces. These columns lend greater vertical character to some rooms and, at their top, support a curved roof that evokes the softness existence should always have.
WRIGHT IN THE DISTANCE
The architectural forms proposed for this commission are subtly inspired by the legacy of Frank Lloyd Wright, particularly in the use of setbacks in plan and elevation, and in the strength and emphasis of the horizontal line. This gives the house a sculptural presence through the interplay of solids, voids, shadows, opacity, and translucency—in pursuit of the balance that every composition should strive to achieve.
The terraces serve as volumetric terminations for the social area and the bedrooms, consolidating a vital space that always relates to the exterior while preserving the warmth and comfort of the interior spaces, which are clearly designed to be highly functional.
